Monthly Wellness Tips
Staying healthy is one of the most important aspects of a maintaining a happy, full life. Yet being “healthy” can be too be very vague and broad. There are many ways to stay healthy, but here are a few that ways to improve your health in the diet and exercise aspects of your life.
Diet
The best way to maintain a healthy diet is to simply have a balance. There will also be a new fad diet that comes out and claims that it works better than any other diet out there, but then a new one will come out the next month claiming the same thing. These specialty diets can be useful if you are going for a specific result, but most of the time a balanced diet will be your best option.
Trying to dramatically cut something from your diets like sugar or carbs will only make you constantly crave that. You will eventually break the diet because no one can go without carbs or sugar for the rest of their life. Once you do break the diet, you will most likely indulge in that substance because of your craving for it, and you will soon be back to the same situation you were in before you started the diet. So instead of trying a radical diet for short period of time, simply keep a balanced diet, and cut back on things that you may be eating too much of. Stick to the food plate and make sure you get your full servings of the nutrient-rich foods like fruits and vegetables.
The last essential part of your diet is drinking water. Drinking water will make you feel better overall and will also help you lose weight if that is your goal. Dehydration is one of the main causes of headaches and fatigue. You should be drinking half of your body weight in ounces every day.
Exercise
Eating healthy is only half of the solution to living a healthier life. It combined with exercise will help aid you in becoming a healthier you. Eating healthy combined with exercise will help you gain muscle, lose fat, and keep the fat off. Not everyone who is trying to live a healthier lifestyle is trying to lose fat, but many are, and this is the best combination for those desired results.
Adults should be getting at least 30 minutes of exercise each day. This may seem hard to fit in with a busy schedule taking up most of your time, but one tip to fit it in is to get up 30 minutes earlier than you normally do and work out then. Working out before your day starts will help you wake up and have a more productive day. It also can be the only time of the day that you do not have anything else going on to prevent you from exercising. It may seem like a chore to wake up earlier at the beginning but once your body gets used to it, it won’t be a challenge at all.
There is no training needed to be able to exercise. If you haven’t exercised in a while then start out walking for 30 minutes. Then you can progress to a jog or run as you get in better shape. You also do not need an expensive gym membership or personal trainer to be able to exercise. If you prefer to lift weights, then look up simple workout routines and start with those at the gym. Gym memberships can be very inexpensive and will pay off.
